Marketing and Promotion

Maxwell J. Toms has performed the functions of marketing and promotion for a number of products and channels including Communications Systems, Broadband Networks and Information Management systems, to a number of government, municipal, industrial and commercial clients.  Responsibilities included such elements as Market Definition, Business Planning, Forecasting, Sales and After-Market Technical Support.

 

Broadband Communications:

·        Muskoka Lakes BRAND Business Plan: Mr. Toms executed planning and preliminary design for a rural wireless communications system for the Township of Muskoka Lakes including supplier RFP and Evaluations. The 3 $M plan was submitted to Industry Canada’s BRAND Project, round two (2004).

·        South Dundas BRAND Business Plan: Mr. Toms supported planning and developed the design for a rural wireless communications system for the Township of South Dundas. The team, South Dundas Economic Development Commission and APT Prophet Technologies Inc. submitted the 3.45 $M plan to Industry Canada’s BRAND Project, round one (2003). This plan was successful.

·        Community Network Promotion: Developed power-point presentations and provided delegations to various Municipal governments, including the Town of Prescott, The Township of North Stormont, the Township of North Dundas, and the Township of South Dundas. (2000-2002)

·        Broadband Internet Promotion: Developed the plans and materials and delivered presentations and exhibits at a number of trade shows and conferences in eastern Ontario.

 

ATE / LCS / Engineering Consulting:

·        Government Clients: Successfully promoted, won and executed a number of contracts to produce ATE definition documentation, Engineering Support and LCS studies for PMOs LLAD, GACS and NSA/NSH, The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) and Transport Canada. (1992-Present)

·        ATE Promotion. Developed materials to promote sales of ATE using BITS to government clients. (1987-1998)

·        Night Observation Device Long Range (NODLR). Presented a brief promoting the features of BITS software for depot maintenance ATE. The Canadian and Korean armies both used this ATE package. (1988‑1989)

·        AN/SPS‑10 Radar Receiver. Presented a marketing brief promoting the radar receiver (USA-Varian, Taiwan Navy), at Beverly, Mass. (1982)

 

Business Application Software:

·        Steiner Materials Management: Promotion and sales of MMS software for Steiner Enterprises of Lafayette, Indiana. The system integrates sales, production, materials, inventory, procurement, engineering documentation, and shipping/receiving. (2000-2001).

·        Time Management System: Promotion and sales of the Tine Card System (TCS) software. Successfully promoted and won contracts to install TCS in a number of companies including RIIP Project (Monenco), AGRA (in-house), SOAP Project, and UMA Engineering. (1995-1997).

·        Time Recording System: Promotion and sales of Business applications including TRS and Inventory management. Successfully promoted and won contracts to install applicationsin a number of companies including Mobil, Promaxis and ENSYN Technologies. (1998-2002).

 

Radio / Navigation Sales:

·        Actively promoted land communications equipment while at CMC in Saskatchewan. Exceeded sales quotas. (1978)

·        Actively promoted land communications equipment SASTEL in Saskatchewan. Won right for CMC to bid a $1M radio system from SASTEL. (1978)

·        Actively promoted CMC land communications equipment to clients in western Newfoundland and Saskatchewan competing against Motorola, GE and Pye Electronics. Captured nearly 95 percent of the western Newfoundland market. (1974-1978)

 

Advertising and Promotion:

·        Developed advertising materials, including brochures, to promote sales in audio, sound re-enforcement for JML Electronics, Newfoundland. (1973-1976)

·        Developed advertising materials, including brochures, to promote sales in radio and marine navigational equipment to clients for JML Electronics, Newfoundland. (1975-1977)
